Sponsor a Widow and her Children

For $50 a month, you can sponsor a widow and her children through Hearth to Hearth Ministries. That amount will help her feed and clothe her children as well as help meet expenses of primary schooling for the children. The children these widows care for may not be their own; they may be her orphaned grandchildren or her orphaned nieces and nephews.

Once the children reach secondary school the widows can no longer afford the costs of their education as the secondary school fees are so high. The children below need sponsors to sponsor their education for $30 a month so they can finish their education and become self-supporting.

 Widow's daughter Veronica

Veronica

Veronica is 17 years old and attends a boarding school.  Her mother is supporting five children, plus a niece and nephew at the present time.  She owns three acres, but has only a few hand tools to use in planting crops on her land.  The seeds and hired labor to help produce crops are costly.  Veronica's sister has a medical condition, the care of which puts an additional strain on the family's resources.  Veronica is in need of a sponsor to continue her education.

 Widow's child Everlist

Everlist

Everlist is 15 years old boy who attends a boarding school.  His mother is supporting 5 children, plus a niece and nephew at the present time.  She owns 3 acres, but has only a few hand tools to use in planting crops on her land.  The seeds and hired labor to help produce crops are costly.  Last year she managed to raise enough food to last the family for 5 months.  Everlist's sister has a medical condition, the care of which requires more of the family's resources.  Everlist is in need of a sponsor to continue his education.

Deborah M.

Deborah is 17 years old, and wants to take a course in tailoring.  In addition to Deborah, her mother is supporting 3 grandchildren.  They live in a small 2 room earth house with iron sheet roofing that leaks.  They have no living relatives to help them.  They are often suffering from a scarcity of food, clothing, and funds to pay for medical expenses.  If Deborah could complete the course in tailoring that she desires, it would go a long way toward helping her family.  This could be accompllished of she were sponsored through the Post-Secondary Education Department.

Robert M.

Widow's grandsonRobert is 20 years old, and lives with his widowed grandmother,  4 other siblings, an uncle and a step-aunt.  They live in a block and cement house with iron sheet roofing.  The house and roof need repairs.  Roberts parents both died of HIV/AIDS.  He then went to live with a paternal grandmother who also died, then an uncle who died, and finally an aunt who also died.  He is now living with his maternal grandmother, who suffers with asthma.  The family endures food scarcity and lack of funds for adequate medical care.  Robert also suffers with chest pains.  He enjoys physics and math in school, and would like to take an electronic engineering course.  He aspires to become a businessman, but cannot continue his studies without a sponsor.

She then lived with a paternal grandmother, who also died, an uncle who died, and an aunt who died.  She is now living with her maternal grandmother, who suffers with asthma.  Her grandmother also struggles with food scarcity for the family, and lack of funds for medical expenses.  Phoebe enjoys science, English, and social studies in school, and with the help of a sponsor she plans to continue her education and eventually realize her desire to be a doctor.

Widow's step-daughter

Gorrety N.

A sponsor to help with fees would make a huge difference to her.

Daisy N.

Daisy is a 16 year old who lives with her widowed mother and 3 other siblings.  Her father died of HIV/AIDS, and her mother is infected with the disease. When her father died, her mother and siblings were disowned by the family, and sent away.  They live in a small rented home, with few, mostly borrowed furnishings.  Her mother struggles with scarcity of food for the family, and lack of funds for educational expenses.  Daisy would like to be a lawyer some day, but needs a sponsor to help provide funding to continue her education.

Imaculate T.

Imaculate is a 14 year old girl, who lives with her widowed mother and 3 other siblings. Sponsorship would allow Imaculate to continue her education and give her hope for her future.

Agnes N.

Agnes is a 20 year old girl living with Edd Kibuka, a peasant.  When Agnes was 7 years old, her father (a farmer) was pierced with a poison thorn in the garden, and died 6 days later.  She and her sister were then split up.  Her sister went to live with her grandmother, and Agnes with her aunt.  Her aunt had no job or money, but someone else supported Agnes' education from P-5 to S-2.  When she was in S-2, 2nd term, her support person, an old lady from the neighborhood, died.  She had to leave school in 2003, and has not been able to return.  She had hopes of becoming a doctor, but due to her age, she has now decided that she would like to take a course in tailoring and earn money to support herself.  She really needs a sponsor to help provide funding for the tailoring course, and perhaps eventually she will be able to continue her education.

Moreen A.

Moreen is a 17 year old girl, living with Fred Musungu.  She needs funding for food, clothes, and school fees.  She enjoys history, English, and math in school, and wants to become a teacher someday.  With a sponsor to help her continue her education, she could indeed become a teacher.
