Make a difference in a child's life.  Feed poor African Children this Year.

The number of African orphans, due to the African HIV/AIDS pandemic and poverty, has become astronomical. Hearth to Hearth Ministries was brought face to face with this heart-wrenching problem in the autumn of 2001. This is when we learned that a whole generation has been nearly wiped out due to HIV/AIDS, leaving behind homeless orphans. Hearth to Hearth Ministries is committed to helping as many of these HIV/AIDS orphans of Kenya, Uganda and (in time) beyond, as possible.  To accomplish this, our all-volunteer Board of Directors and volunteer staff have chosen to resist the trend towards "Americanizing" these orphans and orphanages. Instead, our African orphanages are built according to African standards and staffed by dedicated African volunteers who work to raise these orphans in the more traditional African fashion. 

Hope for Children Center orphanage houses 250 African orphans near Oyugis Kenya and Glory Children's Center orphanage houses 150 orphans near Kisii Kenya. Both these orphanages operate primary schools and Hope for Children Center orphanage has a secondary school. Our goal is to mold strong, educated, spiritually sound individuals who will thrive in their own culture and help change the future of Africa. Hearth to Hearth Ministries currently is helping over five hundred African orphans that we are caring for in five African orphanages: In addition to the two orphanages already listed, we operate Good Samaritan Lwanda Children's Home orphanage, in Kenya and Bridge of Hope Center orphanage and Maranatha Children’s Home orphanage in Uganda. and. In addition to these orphanages, we are also helping several widows care for orphans in their homes. Glory Children's Center orphanage has acquired property out in the country near Kisii Kenya and is in the process of building a new orphanage so that they will have room for more orphans.

While we are thrilled with the progress that is being made and the way God has blessed our efforts over the past six years, we know that we have but scratched the surface as to the orphans and orphanages needed. There are over 4,000 African orphans on our waiting list, just outside our gates, looking with envy at the orphans who are inside the orphanage and longing to join them. Even that number is small compared  to the whole. As long as there is an uncared-for orphan, or a widow unable to support her children, in Africa, we can never stop our efforts.  We will continue to look for those willing to feed the children, sponsor an orphan or sponsor a widow's family.  The task is overwhelming, yet we know that “with men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible.” (Matthew 19:26) Working together, by the grace of God, we can turn HIV/AIDS into “Helpful, Inspiring Volunteers/Appreciative, Impassioned Daughters and Sons.”

Africa is teeming with thousands of HIV/AIDS orphans being cared for by other orphans or by dying HIV/AIDS widows. Orphans as young as six and seven are taking care of their younger orphaned brothers and sisters.  These orphans are either alone in the bush or abused on the streets. A few are blessed to be in an orphanage. Sponsorship saves lives, gives hope, promises a future for an orphan. The pictures above are of a few of the many orphans that come to the gate each day at Hope for Children Center orphanage, wanting to get in.  Hearth to Hearth Ministries' volunteers are working as hard as they can to help as many orphans as possible.  Thirty dollars a month will sponsor an orphan and give them hope.  Sponsor an Orphan in Africa  Fifty dollars a month will sponsor a widow.

Health series

 In the July/Aug. 2002 issue of Hearth to Hearth magazine, a health series entitled “Fearfully and Wonderfully Made,” by George McDaniel, was begun. This series was never concluded due to the discontinuance of the magazine. However, a promise was made to put the whole series in an E-book and make it available on the website. We are happy to fulfill this promise.
