Hearth to Hearth Ministries' Orphanages

Hearth to Hearth Ministries has an orphanage in Kenya near Oyugis called Hope for Children Center that is home to over 250 orphans. Other orphanages in Kenya include Glory Children's Center orphanage and Good Samaritan Lwanda Children's Home orphanage.  Glory Children's Center, an orphanage near Kisii, Kenya, has moved to land that has been purchased for building a permanent orphanage.  The building phase has started and will proceed as funds are available.
Both Hope Center and Glory Center orphanages have on-site primary schools, staffed by our own teachers. Good Samaritan Lwanda Children's Home is our newest orphanage in Kenya, with 50 orphans in residence.

The work in Uganda is centered in Mbale and Kampala, where our pastors are working to help widows keep their children in school and provide the necessities for their families. We have also recently accepted the Bridge of Hope Center, an orphanage in Mbale, Uganda, as an official project of this ministry. This fledgling orphanage shelters nearly 40 orphans,  Maranatha Children's Home orphanage has become our newest orphanage in Uganda.

For more information and pictures of the different orphanages please click the links below.

Uganda
There is much work to be done in Uganda.  Hearth to Hearth Ministries is working with two pastors, in Mbale and Kampala,  to help orphans and some of the widows who are caring for them.

Maranatha Children's Home Orphanage

Maranatha Children's Home orphanage in Uganda is our newest orphanage with 11 orphans most of them still need a sponsor.

As shown on the graph below, nearly 100 orphans are being cared for that have not yet been sponsored. (It is no wonder that there is a shortage of funds!) That figure includes the 31 orphans that the Kenyan government brought to us; the 56 orphans that have been newly accepted into Glory Children's Center; and the orphans at the two orphanages that have only recently been made officially part of the Hearth to Hearth Ministries orphanage network.

The graphs on the link below were taken off a UNICEF website. They show the extent of the orphan problem in Africa. Before we get too discouraged we should remember that we are not expected to do more then we are able. Please read the story at the bottom of the page.

The following story was in Spotlight on Orphans Extra*.

“One day after a bad storm a man went down to the beach by the ocean.  As he was walking along the beach he noticed a little figure down by the water.  As he got closer he saw that a little girl was picking up starfish and throwing them back in the water.

Now, there were thousands of starfish on the beach and the man laughed at the girl.  He said, ‘You don’t think that you can make a difference among all these starfish.’  The little girl just ignored him, bent over and picked up a starfish and threw it back into the sea.

Then she turned to the man and said, ‘I made a difference to that one.’”

Certainly that is all we can do.  Make a difference in a few lives.
